Rates of Pay

Kent Poetry CIC supports union initiatives to introduce fair pay scales to the industry. We are accutely aware of the financial restrictions of producing poetry, however we also believe that the work of poets should be recognised.

Whilst there is currently no dedicated union for poets, we rely on rates drawn from the Musicians Union, ITC and Society of Authors public resources.

Poetry tends to operate on circular economy principles i.e the money paid to poets has a way of finding itself spent elsewhere within the poetry sector.

We offer this information as part our general efforts to see poets paid, to establish trust between us as producers and the poets we support, and to provide guidance for early-career poets who have yet to draw up personal rate cards.
